What is the GMC IntelliLink?

In 2012, GMC introduced IntelliLink into their line of trucks and SUVs with the GMC Terrain. After almost a decade the infotainment with the touchscreen display is a standard inclusion in all of the new GMC vehicles. There is an app to connect with IntelliLink, you can access a multitude of smartphone apps, streaming services, see your contacts, and perform handsfree tasks. Check for GMC IntelliLink Updates

The first thing you need to check before you reset your GMC IntelliLink is to check for software updates. Keeping up with upgrades is crucial to make sure your technology runs smoothly, and if you missed an update this could cause the issues you’re experiencing. Here is how you check for an update:

1. Go to the ‘System’ tab on your display screen, click through to ‘Vehicle Software’ and look for ‘Updates’
2. Then, select ‘Software Information’ and look for ‘System Update’

If there is an update available it should download. After the download completes you will be prompted through installation steps to complete the update.

How to Reset GMC IntelliLink

In the situation that your GMC Intellilink infotainment system did not need a software update, and still isn’t working, you can easily reset your system on your own. However, if you still need help, you can get GMC Intellilink support by calling the assistance center at 1-800-462-8782. Here are step-by-step instructions on how to reset your system:

1. Go to the home screen of your GMC IntelliLink and select ‘Settings’.
2. Choose ‘Return to Factory Settings’.
3. There are three options that will pop up: ‘Restore Vehicle Settings’, ‘Clear All Private Data’, or ‘Restore Radio Settings’. To do the reset, select ‘Restore Vehicle Settings’.
4. When prompted whether to ‘Continue’ or ‘Cancel’, select ‘Continue’.
5. Now, you can navigate back to the home screen and your system should be reset

Important: you should know that resetting IntelliLink to factory defaults will erase any personal settings you have put together in the system. It will be unprogrammed and if you have downloaded any apps they will very likely be removed from the infotainment system. You may have to spend some time getting your system reconnected to your phone.
